The OCR Cambridge National in Sport Studies is aimed at students aged 14-16 years and will develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills that can be used in the Exercise, Physical Activity, Sport and Health sector. Over the two years of study, the students will learn and complete assignments on 3 topic areas: Contemporary Issues in Sport, Sport and the Media and Performance and Leadership in sports activities.
Across the two-year course, students will encounter written coursework (60%) and one examined unit (40%). As a part of the course, students will also be assessed practically in two sports: either individual or team and will also be given the responsibility to plan and lead their own PE lesson to a younger year group.
Cambridge National Sports studies is suited to any student that has a love of sport and exercise and a keen interest of either playing or watching. Students will have 3 hours a week of study, with at least one of these hours dedicated to practical sports.
